The Programmer is primarily responsible for translating functional and technical designs into codes of the prescribed programming language. The Programmer is also responsible for testing, installing, and supporting business systems.
Responsibilities
Systems Development
- Writes high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code to develop software applications or systems
- Revises programs prompts or JCL procedures according to the objectives of the program specifications
- Performs code review
Conducts unit testing
- Logs and resolves defects
- Participates in root cause analysis
- Performs system documentation
System Support
- Provides support during systems testing, integrations testing, and implementation.
- Provides production support and do basic troubleshooting
Reporting
- Prepares a periodic program status or progress report for the benefit of the development manager and/or the division head.
BAU Handover
- Ensures that signoffs are complete and prepare the requirements for turnover to operations.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a 4-year college degree in IT, computer science, or other IT-related courses
- Must have at least 2 years of previous working experience as programmer
- Knowledge and experience in COBOL, CICS, JAVA, VB, SQL Programming
- Must have analytical and technical skills
- Must be proficient in oral and written communication
